For many years, school children living
in villages around the town of Bratunac had to pay horrendous amounts
of money for unsafe and unreliable public transportation in order to
reach their schools. Many impoverished families could not afford this,
so children dropped out of school at the age of 10.
Thanks to project funding by UNESCO, our partner organisation
purchased a used bus and offered save, reliable and cheaper
transportation. Since the beginning of 2007, the Ministry of Education
is able to take over these expenses. We can now sell the bus and
invest the sales revenue in the project “School Lunch for Children in Fakovići”.
